Camaraderie

Camaraderie – There’s a lot of it going on. We all know, of course, that there’s power in numbers, and even the lone wolf will relate to others in given circumstances. We’ve seen a ton of it here at the dealership, especially during the summer when groups of riders pulled up together during their travels.

As they shopped or waited to get their services done, folks got to know one another – guests and staff alike. Complete strangers chatted about their riding experiences, and told stories of danger, fun, and excitement. Ride recommendations were made, warnings were given, and lessons learned were shared.

We were extremely busy in the couple of weeks leading up to Sturgis!  We got to meet riders from all over the country. And then the World Wide Dealer Show came to Denver where we got to meet people from France, Germany, Whales, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, and many more countries all over the world.

Our HOG chapter is a great example of people from all different walks of life and backgrounds coming together for the love of riding, building life-long relationships, and making a difference in our community. It’s no secret that we all get caught up in the day to day tasks that life demands, like work, running errands, and paying bills. So, it’s nice to be able to have an outlet, and a place to go, a shoulder to lean on, and a friend to ride with. That’s what this HOG chapter has brought to our dealership.

We’ve made a ton of friends so far, and continue to do so as we carry on our journey of helping people reach their goal of riding or customizing their bikes. The memories made along the way are priceless, and their significance is something felt differently by each individual.

There’s no denying that in the end, it’s all about the experience!

Brothers Lance Rodeo

During the summer, all of us here at Avalanche Harley-Davidson were lucky enough to enjoy the company of two young cowboys! Colton and Clayton Lance both qualified for the 2013 Youth Bull Riding World Finals, and although their skill had earned them a spot in the competition, their mom (with the hopes of teaching her boys good values) said they still had to earn the money it would take for them to travel from Colorado to Texas, where the competition was to be held.

They came into the dealership one afternoon, accompanied by their mom of course, and asked to talk to someone about a job. They brought in their portfolios, stacked with awards, pictures from competitions, and all their levels of training. They offered to come and help out around the shop in any way we could let them, so they could earn money to make it to Texas for the finals.

We got creative and gave the boys their own lemonade stand at our Bike Nights. They served lemonade in their full riding get-up in exchange for donations. Needless to say they were a huge hit and people were offering up contributions for their trip left and right.

At each appearance, they brought their portfolios, trophies, belt buckles, and chaps. The boys put out a tip jar, and as they served, were able to tell each guest about their goal to go to finals. As guests learned of the cowboys’ goal, they kindly filled the tip jar, hoping it would help get them closer to what they needed.

Once again the biker community’s extreme generosity helped out a good cause, and the two were able to travel to Texas to compete in the World Finals! One of them even finished third in average!

Where are the boys now? Staying busy. With Bull Riding practice a few nights a week and football practice the others…the boys (and their parents) are staying active. We can’t wait to hear more about their successes in the future!

Getting Started – the Avalanche Family

Avalanche Harley-Davidson is expanding its horizons and jumping into the bog world!

“Why?” you may ask. –Because we know when a family is full of diversity, it’s bound to have one hell of an experience! We are very fortunate to have so many people walk through our doors who love to share their stories with us, and now, we’d like to share one with you!

Recently Avalanche HD has dug deep into their pockets to help one of our own Fit Specialist in his time of need. John Queen (Fit Specialist) has been with Avalanche for just under a year now and has become an important part of our family. So when he came to us in his time of need – we didn’t hesitate to go all out in fundraising to support his family.

John’s son-in-law Phil Hastings, who turned 34 this past May, has been battling an extremely rare form of lung cancer since he was just a teen, and according to John, has been a great, strong man. Phil and his wife Nicole have twin boys, Jack and Foster, who are just over two, and will be welcoming a new little girl this month. Unfortunately, Phil’s health recently took a major turn for the worse, and he’s been referred to hospice. Phil is ineligible for medical insurance as well as life insurance, and their financial burden has become dire.

The last two Bike Nights at Avalanche H-D, staff and guests pulled together to help raise funds for this family. We quickly put together 4 raffles and with the generosity and help of everyone who attended the events, we raised over $1,200!
