May is Motorcycle Awareness Month

It’s that time of the year folks! Riders are heading out on their bikes to hit the open road and see the world! In honor of Motorcycle Awareness Month, we’d like to give y’all a few tips on how to look out for motorcyclists, and how to be seen better when you’re out riding!

“Check your blind spot!” -We’ve all heard it before, and we know why we should do it! That biker could be your buddy, or family member. Whether you’re in a car, or on a bike, ALWAYS check your blind spot before making a lane change. In fact, it wouldn’t hurt to check twice!

Wear gear that makes you as visible as possible! Our MotorClothes Dept. is full of fashionable riding gear, however, there’s a lot of thought put into making the designs super functional! Bright colors help riders to stand out on the road, but we know how important leathers are. With reflective material on your jackets, riding at night becomes less dangerous because your visibility is significantly improved.

Ever hear the saying, “Loud pipes save lives” ? Well, those loud pipes aren’t just to wake everyone and their grandmas up. With radios blaring, bass bumping, and chatter from the passengers going on in the car, it’s obvious that drivers may become distracted. Stop into our Service and Parts Depts. to find out how you can upgrade your pipes and engine to be loud and make people hear you for miles!

Some of our guys in the Service Dept. were recenlty talking about how they think the public could become more aware and courteous to riders out there. Luis says, “If everyone rode a bike, there wouldn’t be any accidents. Maybe, people should have to get their motorcycle endorsements first, before getting a license to drive a car. -Then, maybe they’ll understand from a rider’s perspective.”

What are your thoughts? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

April is CHECK YOUR HELMET MONTH!

Do you know the average life of a helmet? DOT says they should be replaced every 3-5 years, unless they experience impact. A helmet is designed for just ONE impact, so even if there aren’t any scratches or damages done to the outside, it should still be replaced right away.

If you have the option to lock your helmet onto your bike while you’re parked, not only will you reduce the risk of theft, you’ll also reduce the risk of dropping it!

Stop by and see us! Our MotorClothes Associates are prepared with knowledge and tips to help you keep your noggin safe while you’re traveling the open road. Find your perfect fit, and style for that matter, with awesome features to help you stay prepared for any climate.

Happy Check Your Helmet Month!!

Harley-Davidson Will be at the Center of the Action in the new Movie Avengers: Age of Ultron

Harley-Davidson Street 750 in Avengers MovieTwo custom Harley-Davidson motorcycles will have starring roles in the all-new Marvel superhero movie Avengers: Age of Ultron. All of us here at Avalanche Harley-Davidson, your Lakewood area Harley-Davidson dealership, can’t wait to catch the action when this blockbuster motion picture hits theaters this coming May 1. We’re action movie fans anyway, but when the motion picture in question features the Harley Davidson Street™ 750, as well as the Project LiveWire™ electric motorcycle concept, well, you can bet we’ll be among the first in line for tickets.

These Motorcycles are Action Stars in their own Right

The word is that Avengers: Age of Ultron will feature an “epic scene” with actress Scarlett Johansson playing Natasha Romanoff, aka the Black Widow, riding the electric Project LiveWire™ bike, and Chris Evans reprising his role as Captain America in the saddle of a Harley-Davidson Street™ 750. Some of you might remember that the Street™ 750 was Captain America’s ride in the movie Captain America: The Winter Solider, released in 2014.

What is particularly exciting for motorcycle enthusiasts from Aurora to Lakewood will be the chance to see the Project LiveWire™ electric motorcycle on the big screen. The prototype of Harley-Davidson’s first-ever electric motorcycle was introduced in June 2014 and has since been made available for special test rides across the U.S., as well as in Canada and Europe. Will its appearance in this movie mean that we can expect this innovative bike will soon be released to the public? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Fortunately, the 2015 Harley-Davidson Street™ 750 is available today at our showroom in Denver. This nimble urban street bike features the all-new RevolutionX™ liquid-cooled engine, a classic teardrop fuel tank, and black two-into-one exhaust that enhances its overall aggressive attitude. With all of the explosive power and quick, responsive handling you need to negotiate city traffic, the Street™ 750 is pure Harley-Davidson muscle.

Visit Avalanche Harley-Davidson

To test drive the new Harley-Davidson Street™ 750 or to learn more about the exciting Project LiveWire™ electric motorcycle, just stop by our Harley-Davidson showroom near Lakewood and Aurora today. We are at 8000 W. Colfax Ave., just south of I-70, in Denver, CO. Give us a call at 888-607-7858 or contact us online if you have any questions. You don’t have to be a superhero to check out the huge inventory of new and pre-owned Harley-Davidson bikes we have in stock today at Avalanche Harley Davidson!

The Denver Chapter HOG

We’d like to give a shout-out to our Denver Chapter HOG! This amazing group of people has a lot of passion for riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and they’re a huge part of what makes Avalanche, well, Avalanche. Check out their website at http://www.denverchapterhog.org to see their huge ride / event schedule and learn more about it! The member participation is epic, and we’ve made so many friends in the HOG chapter! The Chapter socials are on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at the American Legion on 16th and Simms in Lakewood. Feel free to stop by and check it out, guests are welcome! We start showing up around 6pm, and the Legion offers dinner and drinks at a great price!

Not many people know that the Denver Chapter was the very first local chapter in the history of HOG! Good ‘Ol Chuck Austin, who used to work in our Parts Department, reached out to the National HOG Association and suggested starting local memberships to keep Harley Owners involved in the group on a more personal level.

Over 30 years later, here we are, with a wonderful chapter motto: Ride, Be Safe, Have Fun! And boy, do the HOG members have fun! Our Denver Chapter HOG will be at the dealership tomorrow, Saturday, February 7th, serving a FREE Pancake Breakfast – open to the public – from 10am – ‘Til They’re Gone! Come by and say hi!! We hope you can make it! Stop by the Pig Pen in the Service Dept. to see photos of our Chapter’s past events!

To close, we want to give a BIG THANKS to our Denver Chapter HOG officers, members, and enthusiasts! We all like to ride and have fun, so thank you for organizing so many events and volunteering for charitable causes in our communities. It’s just like our Chapter Director says, “We don’t know what our lives would be like without HOG!”

We all know that endings are gateways to new beginnings, and the next few seasons better be ready for us! We’ve got A LOT to look forward to around the shop and we’re pretty excited about creating a ton of good-time memories with each other and everyone who stops by. After giving away the 750 Street H-D, we had so much fun that figured we’d keep the giveaways going!!
